WWE officials were reportedly left feeling 'genuinely let down' by Christian's decision to sign a contract with All Elite Wrestling.

Christian Cage was confirmed as AEW's 'Hall Of Fame-worthy' acquisition at AEW Revolution on Sunday, having made a return to wrestling following a seven-year absence at WWE's Royal Rumble in January.

The 47-year-old has not been seen on WWE television since his showing at the Royal Rumble, however, and Fightful Select is reporting that WWE talent were suspicious of Christian's situation after he wasn't utilised on either Raw or Smackdown.

The talent were not aware of Christian signing for AEW prior to the announcement on Sunday, however, with one talent noting to Fightful that they were happy for Captain Charisma so long as he himself is happy.

However, it is of no coincidence that WWE have not made mention of Christian since his surprise return at this year's Royal Rumble. The report goes on to say that WWE officials feel let down by Christian's move to AEW, but ultimately the failure to sign the legend to a contract is the fault of WWE.

Tony Khan has revealed that Christian is determined to work a regular wrestling schedule with AEW, but WWE's failure to tie Christian to a contract means a host of missed opportunities for the promotion.
