Report: WWE Looking To Increase Visibility In The UK
WWE want to make a greater impression on the UK market
One of the biggest and most important wrestling markets is that of the UK, with WWE having had a successful history of catering to UK fans for over 30 years.
Despite this, the WWE has not always made the best of their popularity in the UK, with 2022's Clash at the Castle the first major international PPV held on British soil since the record-breaking SummerSlam 1992 event in Wembley Stadium.
With WWE now part of the Endeavor family following the confirmation of a buy-out on April 3, it seems that WWE could be looking to rectify this, with a report from Fightful Select suggesting that WWE are looking at increasing their visibility in the UK.
The report states that WWE as a whole are looking at making more money from international television rights, with rights fees negotiations with UK broadcasters ripe for increased payouts.
WWE was broadcast on Sky for the best part of three decades before BT Sport purchased the broadcast rights to WWE programming in late 2019. Since the founding of AEW, WWE has become the second-most-watched promotion in the United Kingdom as AEW Dynamite and Rampage is broadcast on the free-to-air channel ITV4. BT Sport, meanwhile, costs anywhere from £18 to £43 per month.
