Report: WWE NXT UK Expected To Make Major Announcement Today

The brand reportedly won't be shutting down though...

Over the past few days, the future of NXT UK has been up in the air. Initial reports from Tom Colohue at Sportskeeda over the weekend noted WWE's fourth brand could be shutting down, but Alex McCarthy at talkSPORT has since reported the brand isn't going anywhere.

McCarthy revealed WWE thinks NXT UK is worth rebuilding because of stars like Kay Lee Ray and WALTER and the show's popularity on the WWE Network. The company's deal with BT Sport also prevents them from shutting the brand down unless they come to a deal with the TV network.

Changes could still be on the horizon for the UK brand, however, as Dave Meltzer reported on F4W Online WWE is expected to make a major announcement later on today after a mandatory conference call with the roster. What will be discussed in the conference call is currently unknown and could be anything from resuming TV tapings to a new code of conduct following abuse allegations against members of the roster.

Numerous allegations of abuse have been made against NXT UK Superstars in the past 12 days including Jordan Devlin, Ligero, and Travis Banks. Banks and Ligero have since been fired and WWE announced they are taking all allegations very seriously.
