Report: WWE Quietly Cancels Tribute To The Troops
WWE done with Tribute To The Troops
Dec 24, 2024
WWE have quietly scrapped Tribute To The Troops, according to a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.
"No more. It's done. Obviously the year being up, I think in the last month people were kind of asking when are they taping it. It just was not being taped. They had too many other things going on. I don't know if it's done for good but this is the first year they haven't done anything with that...It was a Vince McMahon thing and it's not Vince's company anymore. And it's not something you're going to advertise we're not doing this anymore but it quietly went away this year," Meltzer said.
WWE had held Tribute To The Troops annually since 2003. The special was originally held for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the show being taped from a military base in the Middle East. The show had been taped in the United States since 2010 and aired as an annual special with the exception of 2019 when Tribute To The Troops wasn't televised.
Vince McMahon resigned as TKO Executive Chairman after he was accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse by Janel Grant in January 2024. McMahon is no longer involved in running WWE but he is still a TKO shareholder.
