Report: WWE's Original Plan For SmackDown Women's Championship Match At SummerSlam 2020 Revealed

Big plans for The Biggest Party Of The Summer...

WWE's next big-four pay-per-view is still a few months away as SummerSlam is currently scheduled to take place on August 23 at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The event will likely be moved or pushed back into September, however, as Boston Mayor Marty Walsh previously announced no mass gatherings in the city would be permitted until after September 7.

Louis Dangoor at Wrestletalk revealed WWE has modified one of their planned matches for the show because of this. The company was planning to pay off Sasha Banks' and Bayley's simmering rivalry at The Biggest Party Of The Summer in a bout for the SmackDown Women's Championship, but their eventual confrontation has now been pushed back because it likely won't take place in The Legit Boss's hometown. The wrestling behemoth wants to ensure Banks will be the babyface of the feud and they hoped she would get a huge reception from those in attendance.

Dangoor did note that WWE may still decide to go ahead with the match as planned, but the wrestling behemoth is currently considering other options for the SmackDown's Women's Championship bout.
