Report: WWE To Move Out Of Tropicana Field After April 2

Baseball season is upon us

With baseball season fast approaching, WWE's residency at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, FL must come to an end soon, and it appears that an end date has been set.

According to Jon Alba of Spectrum Sports 360, WWE's last show at Tropicana will be the April 2 episode of SmackDown. John Pollock of POST Wrestling has also been told the same date.

The stadium is home to the Tampa Bay Rays of Major League Baseball. Their home opener is scheduled for Friday, April 9.

Alba's report also notes that some parts of the ball park have already undergone conversion back to a baseball facility, with WWE due to move out in roughly a week and a half from now.

No official statement has been made regarding where WWE will go after they leave Tropicana. Some reports have Tampa's Yeungling Center (on the campus of the University of South Florida) as the most likely destination for WWE's "Thunderdome" set-up, post-Tropicana.

WWE has staged its Raw, SmackDown, and PPV events at Tropicana Field since mid-December. They previously maintained residence at Orlando's Amway Center, beginning the weekend of SummerSlam last August.
