Report: WWE To Potentially Run King & Queen Of The Ring Event In May

WWE reportedly planning to hold King & Queen of the Ring event in May

After successfully returning in 2021, WWE are reportedly set to run King of the Ring as a ‘premium live event’ in May, the first time the show will be given PPV status since the 2002 edition.

Now retitled King & Queen of the Ring, Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston reported on Patreon that WWE are set to run the show on May 27 - Memorial Day weekend in the United States.

It was revealed in December 2022 that WWE had filed to trademark the term ‘King & Queen of the Ring’ prompting many to assume that the show would return after the 2021 KOTR tournament that saw Xavier Woods win the historic title at Crown Jewel, whilst Zelina Vega won the ‘Queen’s Crown Tournament’, seemingly a precursor to a Queen of the Ring tournament.

Over the past several years, Memorial Day weekend has been an All Elite Wrestling dominated affair, with AEW running Double or Nothing during the period. AEW’s Tony Khan has stated that Double or Nothing is expected to be held over Memorial Day weekend once again in 2023, so it remains to be seen if WWE will be going head-to-head with AEW with King & Queen of the Ring.
