Retro Edition Of WWE SmackDown Scheduled For Next Week

It's like retro Raw except, you know, SmackDown

The May 7 episode of WWE SmackDown will be a special throwback edition, as announced in a commercial during Friday night's broadcast.

The commercial stated, "Next Friday, we're going back - way back," with the classic SmackDown logo appearing at the end of the segment.

No word on what specifically will be included on next week's SmackDown, in terms of nostalgia-themed appearances and segments.

Next week will also be a "throwback" week on FS1, as part of a promotional tie-in with NASCAR's own throwback weekend. The throwback-themed week will culminate with the Goodyear 400, airing on FS1 on Sunday, May 9.

Announced so far for next week's special SmackDown is a WrestleMania 37 rematch pitting Seth Rollins against Cesaro. Rollins cut a promo early on Friday night's SmackDown broadcast, demanding the match, which Cesaro would accept later in the evening.

Nostalgia-themed editions of SmackDown in recent years have included the FOX premiere in 2019 (with a number of guest stars), SmackDown 1000 in 2018, and the 10th and 15th anniversary shows in 2009 and 2014, respectively.
