Rey Mysterio: WWE Gave Dominik The Chance To Reject Seth Rollins Match At SummerSlam 2020
His WWE career was set to begin in the Performance Center

Rey Mysterio has revealed WWE gave Dominik Mysterio the final decision as to whether he was ready to be involved in a high-profile match with Seth Rollins at SummerSlam 2020.
Dominik Mysterio made his in-ring debut for WWE on one of the biggest shows of the year, facing off against former WWE champion Rollins, having been fast-tracked to the main roster.
The 24-year-old was initially supposed to begin his WWE career in the Performance Center but was instead inserted into his dad's rivalry with Rollins, impressing on his first showing in a WWE ring.
Rey Mysterio has now admitted he didn't believe his son was ready for such a stage, but he and WWE left the decision up to Dominik as to whether he did the match.
Now a Tag Team Champion with his son, Rey also confessed he was more nervous about the match than Dominik.
Speaking to Ryan Satin on the Out Of Character Podcast, Rey said: "I personally didn’t think he was ready, so I let him make his choice. I said, ‘Dom, this is what they [WWE's decision-makers] want to happen. Are you good or do you wanna say no?’
"He’s like, ‘Nah, dad, I’m ready, I’ll do it.’ So I was like, ‘Woah.’ You can only imagine the level of nerves and stress I had during that time.
"One thousand percent, without a doubt [more nervous for Dominik]. I still, to this day, it’s nerve-racking for me to hit the ring. It’s what happens before I walk out that curtain. That adrenaline, that emotion of making sure everything comes out crisp and clean, that I impress my fans, that I impress the company, and everything that I do has to come out to a tee. I have OCD [Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder] so I want everything to just be perfect."
