Ric Flair Wanted To Turn On Sting In AEW

Ric Flair wanted to turn on Sting one last time in AEW

Old habits die hard, and for Ric Flair that includes turning on Sting.

When ‘The Nature Boy’ turned up in All Elite Wrestling in 2023 to support his long-time rival ahead of his retirement at Revolution on March 3, 2024, many assumed it was only a matter of time until Flair did what he’s always done - pummel Sting, likely with the help of The Four Horsemen.

Heading into Revolution it was teased that Flair could side with Sting and Darby Allin’s opponents The Young Bucks, and according to Flair’s son-in-law Conrad Thompson on the What Happened When podcast, Flair was desperate to lay the boots into Sting one last time:

"He desperately wanted to turn on Sting," Thompson said, further revealing that Flair asked Thompson to convince Tony Khan it was a good idea, "'Conrad will you go talk to Tony? You're friends with him, just go talk to him' and I'm like 'What are you talking about? 'Just go and talk to him, try to convince him, me turning on Sting is best for business.' I go 'Ric you work here, you're in the storyline, I think maybe you should tell him.'"

Alas, Flair stayed a babyface at Revolution, eating a Superkick Party from Matthew and Nicholas Jackson for his troubles.

During their storied feud across Jim Crockett Promotions and WCW, Flair turned on Sting numerous times, with Sting’s character developing a reputation for being an over-trusting idiot.
