The status of AEW’s Ricky Starks has been the subject of much speculation throughout 2024, with Starks not wrestling for the company despite being cleared to compete. Starks however made a surprise return to the ring at an indy event on October 27, and it seems Starks is raring to go.

Starks made an unannounced appearance at a Glory Pro Wrestling show over the weekend, getting physical before cutting a promo and challenging GPW’s Kody Lane to a match on November 24.

‘Absolute’ has only wrestled seven times in 2024, five times for All Elite Wrestling. His last AEW match came in March, with his last indy bout coming in late May. Starks has noted that he doesn’t know why he isn’t being used by AEW, and refuted claims that he shot down AEW creative pitches.

Despite not being used by AEW, and with reports suggesting there is mutual interest between Starks and WWE, the 34-year-old remains signed to AEW, with AEW President Tony Khan complimenting Starks in August ahead of AEW All In Wembley II. Khan did not disclose why the former AEW World Tag Team Champion has not been used by the company in recent months.
