ROH Reportedly Nixed Mercedes Martinez Signing

Martinez was released by WWE in August

Time was not on the ROH Women’s Division’s side. No sooner had they crowned a first ROH Women’s Champion in Rok-C and rebuilt the division than ROH announced it was going into hiatus.

Now it appears several pitches were made to ROH during the division’s relaunch, with the signing of Mercedes Martinez being floated to the company.

The report - courtesy of Fightful Select - states that “Maria Kanellis and Bobby Cruise specifically pitched four singings to anchor the division - Rok-C, Trish Adora, Max The Impaler, and Miranda Alize. All ended up getting signed by the company. However, they also pitched for Mercedes Martinez to be brought into the company and do something at Death Before Dishonor and the following tapings. However, that was nixed due to budget issues.”

Mercedes Martinez was released by WWE in August, and has since featured for IMPACT Wrestling, whilst Rok-C is set to defend the ROH Women’s World Championship at the upcoming Final Battle 2021 PPV this coming Saturday.
