ROH Women's Champion Mercedes Martinez Out With Injury

Mercedes Martinez last wrestled in July 2022

Mercedes Martinez has been conspicuous by her absence on AEW/ROH TV, with the current ROH Women’s World Champion last wrestling for the company at ROH Death Before Dishonor on July 23.

During the AEW All Out pre-show media call, AEW/ROH President Tony Khan revealed that Martinez is the latest name on AEW’s injury list:

"Mercedes Martinez, the women's world champion of Ring of Honor, is actually out with an injury, but will be back soon. A lot of the other Ring of Honor world champions are represented on this card,” said Khan.

Khan didn’t disclose the nature of Martinez’ injury, and since Death Before Dishonor Martinez has only worked one match - an indie show win over Vita VonStarr on July 24.

Martinez worked several matches for AEW in 2019 before signing with WWE NXT in 2020. After being released by WWE in 2021, Martinez worked for IMPACT Wrestling, before returning to AEW in early 2022.

A one-time ROH Women’s World Champion, Martinez won the interim title at Supercard of Honor in April 2022, before defeating Deonna Purrazzo to become undisputed champion in May.
