Sami Zayn Vs. Damian Priest Becomes Least-Watched WWE Raw Main Event In History

Sami Zayn vs. Damian Priest makes the wrong kind of WWE Raw history

Sami Zayn and Damian Priest are the holders of an unfortunate record. They were the least-watched main event in WWE Raw history, drawing a lower viewership than every Raw main event since the show debuted in January 1993.

This is according to Dave Meltzer, who said on Wrestling Observer Radio: "One of the things Raw did set a record for is the Damian Priest and Sami Zayn match, which did 1.2 million viewers, was the least-watched main event in the history of Raw, ever. But again, given the competition, it was what it was."

Raw averaged 1.39 million viewers and a 0.43 rating in the key 18-49 demographic, Wrestlenomics reported. This was the show's lowest total viewership since September 18 on a night where Raw faced competition from Monday Night Football, which averaged 15.2 million viewers across ESPN and ABC, as well as the third game of the MLB World Series which drew 8.1 million viewers.

Wrestlenomics noted the final quarter-hour of Monday Night Raw averaged 1.2 million total viewers and a 0.38 rating in the 18-49 demo.

2023 has been a year for unwanted records in WWE as Tommaso Ciampa vs. Giovanni Vinci from the September 18 edition of Raw was the least-watched match in the history of the show. The match only averaged 1.192 million viewers.
