Sammy Guevara's Status A Mystery Within AEW

Sammy Guevara fuelled speculation about his future with All Elite Wrestling in recent days after he removed any mention of the promotion from his X/Twitter bio on July 19, with the bio now simply reading: "World Champion, Husband, Father & Professional Wrestler."

In an update, Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer has reported that nobody in AEW seems to know what is going on with Sammy Guevara, with the expectation being that more will be known about the situation at tonight's taping of AEW Dynamite from Nashville, Tennessee. As of the time of publication, Guevara is still listed on the AEW roster page, which is regularly updated to reflect when a wrestler has left the company.

Sammy Guevara is an AEW original, having signed with the promotion in February 2019, and he wrestled in the first-ever AEW singles match, losing to Kip Sabian on the Double or Nothing 2019 zero hour. Guevara also wrestled in the first match in AEW Dynamite history against Cody Rhodes.

Guevara was a featured talent across All Elite Wrestling as one of the promotion's four pillars with MJF, Darby Allin, and Jack Perry which saw Guevara be featured prominently alongside Chris Jericho, first in the Inner Circle, then the Jericho Appreciation Society, and then simply in their Le Sex Gods tag team until early 2024. Guevara also became a three-time TNT Champion during one of the rare periods when he was not associated with Chris Jericho, holding the belt between September 2021 and April 2022.

Since his return from suspension in July 2024, however, Guevara has primarily been featured in Ring of Honor, where he is a three-time ROH World Tag Team Champion, and he has only sporadically been booked on AEW TV. This includes only wrestling three times for AEW in 2026, although one of those matches was an AEW World Championship match against Darby Allin on the May 16 episode of Collision.
