Santana Suffers Injury During AEW Blood & Guts

Santana could be out for a while

Santana could be set for a stint on the shelf.

The AEW star was involved in Wednesday's Blood & Guts Match on Dynamite, teaming with Ortiz, Eddie Kingston, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta against the Jericho Appreciation Society. When Santana entered the match, though, he tried to hit a Uranage but his leg gave way and he collapsed to the mat.

The former IMPACT World Tag Team Champion was seldom involved in the match after the incident and he left the ring towards the end of the contest, being taken to the back.

In an update, Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Santana was set to undergo an MRI scan. Doctors also believe the injury is "very, very bad" so he could be out of action for a significant amount of time.

In Santana's absence, the babyfaces would still go on to win Blood & Guts with Claudio Castagnoli securing the victory for his team after applying a Sharpshooter to Matt Menard while on top of the cage.
