Santos Escobar Returns To WWE NXT, Teams With Former Rivals

It was Escobar's first NXT appearance in almost a year.

WWE star Santos Escobar made a surprise return to NXT on last night's episode of the show.

The LWO member resurfaced to team with Stacks and Tony D'Angelo. The trio defeated Gallus in the main event, before celebrating together as the show went off the air.

The match had been set up earlier in the show, when Gallus attacked The Family in the Performance Center parking lot.

Last year, Stacks and D'Angelo were embroiled in a feud with Escobar, Joaquin Wilde and Cruz Del Toro. D'Angelo ended up beating Escobar in a match where Escobar would have to leave NXT if he lost.

Since then, the former Cruiserweight Champion has been a member of the SmackDown roster. On last week's edition of the show, Escobar defeated Rey Mysterio in the United States Title invitational final.

Though the match had to be prematurely stopped after Mysterio suffered an injury, Escobar earned a future shot at reigning champion Austin Theory.

Escobar will challenge Theory for the gold on the August 11 episode of SmackDown.
