Seth Rollins Becomes WWE Championship Number One Contender

The Messiah earned his shot

Seth Rollins has been named the number one contender to Big E's WWE Championship.

The Messiah, returning to Monday Night Raw for the first time following the 2021 WWE Draft, claimed the opportunity for the WWE Title in a Fatal 4-Way Ladder Match in the main event of the October 25 show, defeating Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and Rey Mysterio.

Rollins had interrupted Big E at the start of the night, making clear his intention to come after the WWE Championship, only for Mysterio, Balor and Owens to all do the same, leading to Sonya Deville making the number one contenders ladder match for later in the night.

Big E would confront his next challenger following the main event to end the show. WWE are yet to announce when Rollins will get his opportunity at the New Day member and the Title.

Rollins is a former two-time WWE Champion, having held the Title in 2015 and briefly in 2016 also. The 35-year-old is also a former two-time WWE Universal Champion, winning the belt twice in 2019.
