Shawn Spears Says He's Not Signed With AEW

"The Perfect Ten" is still a free agent...

The former Tye Dillinger entered into AEW Double or Nothing's Casino Battle Royal, appropriately as the tenth man to join the fray. After receiving his requested release from WWE on February 22, Spears was freed up from his 90-day non-compete just in time for the event.

However, Spears revealed in a media scrum after the event that he has not officially signed with the organization, as of yet.

Spears did note that he is "very close friends with an Executive Vice President" (making reference to Cody Rhodes), but clarified his current status by saying, "As of this moment, there is nothing in writing. I'll be straight-up, flat-out honest with you."

Spears also reiterated that he was a "last-minute addition" to the card, likely due to the small time window between his non-compete ending, and the May 25 card.

The 38-year-old did speak glowingly of the opportunity to take part in the show, and with meeting various assembled talent and personnel through the weekend.

The former WWE talent also stated among his remarks, "I said this in an interview not long ago - I don't believe in working for an audience of one. And in some other places, that's kind of the thing."
