A pro wrestling legend made their return to All Elite Wrestling during Sunday's taping of AEW Dynamite and Rampage from New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom.

As the taping got underway, 'War Machine' by KISS filled the arena and Taz made his entrance, receiving a huge pop from the fans in attendance inside the Hammerstein Ballroom. Taz shook hands with Tony Khan and received big 'ECW' chants. Mike Johnson of PWInsider has reported that Taz was back on commentary and he was announcing the Dynamite on 34th Street episode that will air on Christmas Day.

Sunday night was Taz's first appearance since he disappeared from AEW TV to undergo full knee replacement surgery. Taz was written off in an unseen backstage attack by The Patriarchy which has since kicked off a programme between the faction and HOOK.

Taz had been suffering from knee issues for years and he revealed following the surgery on The Infamous Smoke Show that it had reached the point where he was struggling to walk.

"I tried everything...I'm 57, right, so I wanted to wait until I was 65 to get the replacement. I just couldn't wait. It was just brutal. I couldn't go to work, I couldn't walk in an arena backstage. I couldn't walk in airports. You go to make a connection flight, and I got too much pride to get wheeled around. I'm just not gonna do that. Yeah, whatever. I got my own f*cking issues, right? [Laughs]" said Taz (H/T Fightful).

Taz noted in November that he was already feeling relief following the surgery and his arthritis was gone.
