Sting And Darby Allin Defeat The Young Bucks At AEW Revolution, Sting Retires As Tag Team Champion

AEW bids farewell to The Icon

Sting ends his wrestling career with a victory, completing his AEW run at a perfect 29-0 record, after teaming with Darby Allin to retain the World Tag Team titles over The Young Bucks at AEW Revolution on Sunday night in Greensboro.

During the course of the wild Tornado Rules match, Allin shredded his back after falling through a pane of glass, while Sting was suplexed off the entrance stage through a table. Sting kicked out of numerous Young Bucks finish attempts, including two EVP Triggers. Both Ric Flair and Ricky Steamboat got involved in the match, but were taken out by the Bucks.

In the end, Sting submitted Matthew Jackson to the Scorpion Deathlock, after Allin first landed the Coffin Drop.

Sting was joined for his final match by sons Steven and Garrett, who dressed in their father's prior guises (1990 Great American Bash Sting and nWo Wolfpack Sting).

Sting ends a 38-plus year career in professional wrestling, which began in November 1985, and included 13 World title reigns across WCW and TNA. Sting announced on October 18 that Revolution would be the final match of his career.

In December 2020, Sting debuted in All Elite Wrestling, where he quickly formed a partnership with Allin. Sting teamed with Allin (along with other guest partners) over the three ensuing years. On February 7, Sting and Allin won the AEW World Tag Team titles in Phoenix from Ricky Starks and Big Bill.
