Surprising Former WWE Talent Works AEW Rampage Taping

Shock name on AEW Rampage

A surprising name will appear on tonight's episode of AEW Rampage.

This week's show was taped from Indianapolis, Indiana following Dynamite on Wednesday night. A Lumberjack Match for the AEW-All Atlantic Championship between Orange Cassidy and QT Marshall opened the taping.

While the ring was surrounded by plenty of AEW talents, one shock name amongst the group was former WWE talent Kevin Fertig, who previously worked for the Stamford-based company as Kevin Thorn and Mordecai.

Thorn confirmed his appearance, tweeting: "So I did a Thing last night, I Hear you can watch it Friday Night on @aewontv! Huge Thanks for having me @aew. This life I live is blessed beyond belief, next stop @blizzardbrawl this weekend to beat up @mikecurkov!!!"

Thorn had multiple runs in WWE in the 2000s, first appearing on TV in 2004 as Mordecai, a religious zealot character. He was soon sent back to developmental, then released, before he resurfaced on WWE ECW in 2006 as Kevin Thorn, a vampire. That gimmick would soon be scrapped too, though, and Fertig was eventually let go by WWE in 2009.

Thorn has worked on the indies since then and he faced Gangrel in a King of the Damned Match in 2021. Outside of wrestling, Thorn works as a realtor/estate agent.
