The Rock Confirms He Will Appear On WWE SmackDown On FOX Premiere

Do you smell it?

Surely you can't celebrate the twentieth anniversary of WWE SmackDown, and its debut on the FOX Network, without bringing in the man that coined the show's name.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has confirmed that he will be a part of Friday night's broadcast in Los Angeles, through a post on his Twitter.

Wrote Johnson, "FINALLY...I come back home to my @WWE universe. This FRIDAY NIGHT, I’ll return for our debut of SMACKDOWN! LIVE on @FOXTV. There’s no greater title than #thepeopleschamp. And there’s no place like home. Tequila on me after the show."

"The People's Champ" was on hand for the very first weekly episode SmackDown on August 26, 1999, losing to WWE Champion Triple H in the main event.

Rock will join a whole host of WWE icons and Hall of Famers as they ring in SmackDown's premiere episode on FOX. Kofi Kingston is also scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Brock Lesnar, who wrestles his first match on a weekly television show in over 15 years.
