Thunder Rosa Wins AEW Women's Title From Britt Baker On Dynamite

The hometown star gets the gold

Thunder Rosa is the new AEW Women's World champion, after defeating Dr. Britt Baker inside a steel cage in the main event of the "St. Patrick's Day Slam" edition of AEW Dynamite on Wednesday night, in Rosa's hometown of San Antonio.

Late in the match, referee Paul Turner was bumped after Baker accidentally superkicked him. Rosa subsequently hit Baker with her Fire Thunder Driver, with no ref to count. After Baker hit a second-rope air raid crash onto a pile of chairs, Aubrey Edwards took over officiating duties, but Rosa kicked out.

After Rosa avoided the Lockjaw on two occasions, she powerbombed Baker onto a river of thumbtacks. Rosa then went on to hit the Fire Thunder Driver onto the tacks to win.

Rosa becomes just the fifth Women's World champion in AEW history, joining Riho, Nyla Rose, Hikaru Shida, and Baker.

Baker's reign ends after 290 days. She won the title from Shida at last year's Double or Nothing on May 30 in Jacksonville. Baker made seven successful defenses of the title, including defeating Rosa at Revolution ten nights ago in Orlando.
