A match planned for the TNA premiere on AMC may have been pulled due to a WWE booking.
PWInsider has reported that WWE have been interested in booking TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater on the UK portion of WWE's current European tour. It has not been outright confirmed if Slater will be working the UK dates but a pitch called for him to work the tour alongside Je'Von Evans.
Since that report, TNA have stopped promoting Leon Slater vs. Myron Reed for the premiere of Thursday Night IMPACT on AMC on Thursday, January 15, which suggests the match has been pulled from the show.
Leon Slater has been a regular on WWE NXT since September 2025 as part of the WWE NXT-TNA working relationship. The UK star has regularly teamed with Je'Von Evans, including at the December 13 episode of Saturday Night's Main Event headlined by John Cena's retirement match.
Slater's most recent WWE match saw him unsuccessfully challenge Oba Femi for the NXT Championship, with Oba relinquishing the NXT Title after the match.
Slater reflected on his WWE appearances during a recent interview with Joey Karni, saying:
"It's a huge opportunity for me, man. It's something I take great pride in. Inside the ring, I'm doing my best. I'm showing people what the X-Division style is all about, what Leon Slater is about, but just like inside the ring, I'm doing the outside the ring as well. The way I'm dressed going to the venue, the way I'm talking to people, the way I'm carrying myself, trying to make sure I'm doing everything right, checking all the boxes as far as talent goes so when people say, 'Oh, we're thinking of having a TNA talent on John Cena's last match,' like, 'Oh yeah, Leon, of course.' I'm just trying to represent myself and my company as best as I can."
Leon Slater is under contract with TNA Wrestling until the end of 2026.
