Tommaso Ciampa Feared He'd Wrestled His Last Match After Recent Injury

Tommaso Ciampa had a number of injury issues to deal with prior to his recent WWE return

WWE star Tommaso Ciampa worried his in-ring career may have been over after a recent injury scare.

The former NXT Champion returned to Raw in June after ten months on the sidelines. While recovering, however, The Blackheart wasn't sure he would be able to come back at all.

Discussing his injury situation during a recent appearance on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, Ciampa said:

"So much was wrong. I had bulging discs in my back. The SI joint was closed off. Hip labrum was torn to shreds. It was just a mess. The MRI had a lot of language in it that I didn't understand. So, the surgery and the rehab wasn't very fun, I'm not going to lie. It was pretty miserable at that point. When I went out to Columbia, I was a little like, 'holy crap,' a little bit depressed, like I might have had my last match and it was in whatever town on a live event - not how I envisioned it being."

The 38-year-old last wrestled on the July 10 episode of Raw, where he lost a No Disqualification match against The Miz.
