Tony Chimel Doesn't Think He'll Receive WWE Hall Of Fame Induction

The former ring announcer can't see it happening

Despite having a 38-year WWE career, former ring announcer Tony Chimel doesn't foresee a Hall of Fame induction in his future.

Chimel was asked about a potential Hall of Fame induction during a recent appearance on Monday Mailbag and was dismissive of the idea, saying:

"First of all, I don't ever see that phone call being called to me…There's so many people there that have been there for so long, and all [WWE is] worried about is how many tickets [they] can sell. It really doesn't mean much, the Hall of Fame. It's really just another venue for them to make a crap tonne of money".

Though Chimel might not see it happening, he did have a couple of ideas for potential inductors, naming John Cena and Edge as people he would love to do the honours if he ever got the call.

Chimel began his WWE career in 1981 and started out working as a ring technician, before becoming an announcer. He eventually worked his way up to become the voice of SmackDown in the early 2000s.

He was released by WWE in 2020.
