Tony Khan Comments On AEW Fans Booing Cody Rhodes
Cody continues to divide AEW audiences
Cody Rhodes is one of the most divisive wrestlers in AEW.
Despite being presented as somewhat of a super babyface, large swathes of the AEW crowd boo ‘The American Nightmare’, with some pondering whether Rhodes has actually turned heel or not.
AEW President Tony Khan was asked his thoughts on the crowd turning on Rhodes during a recent appearance on Busted Open Radio, with Khan saying the following:
“I think it depends a lot on the opponent and the situation. Cody is certainly willing to lean into that role and does a great job of it against a person like Sammy (Guevara), who’s one of the most exciting, young wrestlers out there and the Interim TNT Champion now. I think Cody definitely has leaned into being an aggressive heel in doing some things to help accentuate the match.”
Cody lost the TNT Championship to Guevara on last night’s edition of AEW: Dynamite, with Guevara winning a ladder match for the undisputed TNT Championship. During the match Rhodes worked over Guevara, and even nailed Fuego Del Sol with a Tiger Driver 98.
