Heading into the inaugural AEW Rampage this past Friday, one of the main story beats heading into the show was around Fuego Del Sol fighting for an AEW contract, but he’d have to beat The Redeemer Miro to seal the deal.

Inevitably, Miro steamrolled Fuego, then tore his contract into pieces. But as Fuego was recovering, Sammy Guevara and Tony Khan made their way to the stage, and presented Fuego with another contract, as the valiant masked star was deemed ‘All Elite’.

Fuego was in tears in the ring as Guevara broke the news to him, and according to Tony Khan, the entire post-match segment was a legitimate shoot:

“That was a complete shoot,” said Khan to Sports Illustrated’s Justin Barrasso “Fuego had no idea that was going to happen. Sammy was the only person I told, and Fuego was legitimately surprised to receive the contract he’s been dreaming of and chasing.”

Fuego has become a cult favourite in AEW through his work with Sammy Guevara on the latter’s YouTube show, and through taking hellacious beatdowns on AEW Dynamite from the likes of Malakai Black, Andrade El Idolo, and others.
