All Elite Wrestling, especially since late 2024, have often found their events going head-to-head or taking place on the same weekend as WWE shows as the TKO-owned company has looked to use counter-programming against Tony Khan's promotion.

This occurred once again on Sunday, May 25 as AEW Double or Nothing went head-to-head with WWE NXT Battleground. AEW All In Texas on July 12 will also take place on the same day as WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, although not at the same time. WWE Evolution II will then be held on Sunday, July 13.

After being asked by Mark Hoke about WWE counter-programming AEW, Tony Khan gave a bullish response at the post-Double or Nothing media scrum.

"It's pretty consistent. I'd say it's the most consistent event head-to-head scheduling I've seen since Jim Crockett Promotions saw a lot of scheduling that went that way. I can tell you this will go a lot differently than that did," Khan stated.

Jim Crockett Promotions was ultimately sold to Turner Broadcasting and morphed into World Championship Wrestling. WWE utilising counter-programming has been a common tactic from the company for decades.
