With WWE WrestleMania 43 heading to Saudi Arabia it has opened up a massive hole in the North American wrestling calendar, with AEW Owner Tony Khan seemingly interested in filling the void.

Traditionally, WrestleMania week in the United States is a full celebration of professional wrestling, with scores of indie events and conventions taking place as satellite events around mania. However, with WWE’s controversial decision to host Mania in Saudi Arabia for the first time, it has all but ruled out such events taking place.

All Elite Wrestling traditionally don’t run major events during Mania week, but during the post-Double or Nothing media scrum on May 25, Tony Khan potentially suggested he could fill Mania’s North American void in 2027:

“I think it is potentially viable,” said Khan when asked about running a major domestic event during March/April 2027. “And it’s a very interesting thought. We’ll have to see what happens in the world landscape between now and then, but it’s a very interesting possibility.”

The likes of TNA, GCW, New Japan, and countless others traditionally run events in the same host city as WrestleMania when WWE roll into town. Ring of Honor also traditionally hosted events during the season, prior to Tony Khan’s buy-out of the legendary indie promotion.
