Triple H 'Didn't Realise' How Good Will Ospreay Was

Triple H just thought Will Ospreay was "one of these great workers"

Triple H reportedly "didn't realise" how good Will Ospreay was and he believed the man who many have called the current best wrestler in the world was simply "one of these great workers."

Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio

"When I was watching this [Dynamite promo] my conclusion was if Paul Levesque is watching this he's going like 'Holy f**k.' They know he's a good wrestler but I don't think they know he's the charismatic person and talker and can get over. Keep in mind, yeah he did a couple of matches before and he certainly has a rep with the hardcore fans because he's the best wrestler in the world, but he was in there in front of a lot of fans that probably were not regular AEW fans, including many who probably came to see Mercedes [Mone]. And that guy was over like crazy after literally two matches on this run.

"Granted they were incredible matches, but it's still two matches... I know people in WWE when this was going down it was becoming very clear he was going to AEW and not WWE, and they offered a lot less money. I know people there were going 'He [Triple H] didn't realise.' They knew but he just didn't realise. He just thought, 'Ah, it's one of these great workers.'"

Will Ospreay's contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling expired at the end of January 2024 but he began negotiations over his next deal much earlier. He announced he would be signing with All Elite Wrestling at Full Gear 2023 and Ospreay has promptly established himself as one of the promotion's top stars since beginning his full-time AEW run in February with critically acclaimed matches against Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher. Ospreay will face Bryan Danielson at the Dynasty pay-per-view on April 21.

Ospreay recently addressed why he signed with AEW over WWE
