Aleister Black pulling his hood down on WWE SmackDown

On Friday Night SmackDown in recent weeks, real-life husband and wife Aleister Black and Zelina Vega became aligned on WWE programming for the first time ever. This came when Vega interfered in Black’s match with Damian Priest, helping him win the Last Man Standing bout against his rival. When it comes to their on-screen partnership, one man was initially not convinced in putting them together on-screen; WWE’s Chief Content Officer, Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque.

Speaking with Sports Illustrated, Aleister Black discussed how things came together, and revealed that when he first pitched the idea, Triple H wasn’t sold on it.

“When I got back, the conversation arose again and initially (Triple H) was not really into it. But I think that with the success of AJ and CM Punk, and Seth and Becky, I think that he kinda went like, you know what, this might actually really, really work.”

In the end, Triple H gave in, bringing Black & Vega together for a partnership. Black noted that they were constantly working on elements such as presentation for their act going forwards.
