Two Title Matches Set For WWE SmackDown Next Week
WWE have announced US Title & Tag Team Title matches
It is set to be a big week for Friday Night SmackDown’s August 23 show next week, as two title matches have been announced for the show at the Capitol One Arena in Washington, Columbia.
United States Champion LA Knight emerged on SmackDown last night, cutting a promo to accept a challenge that had been laid out in a vignette earlier in the night by number one contender Santos Escobar. Last week, Escobar confronted Knight in a promo to target the United States Championship before defeating Andrade (with the help of Carmelo Hayes) to earn a shot at the gold.
Additionally, The Street Profits became the brand new number one contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships. The pairing of Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins took on DIY’s Tommaso Ciampa and Johnny Gargano on last night’s SmackDown to earn a shot at The Bloodline’s belts. It hasn’t been announced which pairing out of the trio of Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa, and Jacob Fatu will be defending the titles, but the match will be taking place next week. A trios match seeing Jade Cargill, Bianca Belair & Naomi taking on Isla Dawn, Alba Fyre & Blair Davenport has also been announced.
