Tyrus Comments On NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title Win

Tyrus became NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion at Hard Times

The National Wrestling Alliance were the talk of the wrestling world for all of the wrong reasons on November 12 as Tyrus defeated Trevor Murdoch and Matt Cardona at the Hard Times 3 pay-per-view to become the new NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion.

The booking decision was not popular with many fans, with Tyrus' in-ring work having been roundly criticised throughout his NWA run. That criticism only worsened after the 49-year-old was established as one of the promotion's top stars.

Reflecting on his title win with Jim Varsallone of the Miami Herald, Tyrus said:

"I was elated, I was shocked, I didn't realise the historic...you know you make history, but only 100 guys, now 101 guys, have held this championship. To find out I'm the largest NWA Champion of all-time is pretty cool. Although Andre The Giant could have won it anytime he wanted to, he just chose not to. I took a moment after I won the match to take a knee and thank the champions before me."

Alongside pro wrestling, Tyrus is a regular on FOX News as part of Gutfield. Speculation has suggested him being on the mainstream channel prompted NWA to give him the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Title.
