Matt Cardona Suffers Torn Triceps At WWE Main Event Taping

Matt Cardona looks set for a stint on the sidelines after suffering a torn triceps.

Cardona announced the injury on Sunday, tweeting: "I wish my arm was this jacked. Unfortunately, it’s just swollen because I tore my tricep in a match on Friday night. (I still went to the gym today and did legs) I’ll keep you updated. I’M NOT FINISHED."

Cardona did not wrestle on Friday Night SmackDown, but he competed before the show against Kit Wilson in a match taped for WWE Main Event at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena. How long Cardona will be out of action is currently unknown.

Matt Cardona has been full-time with WWE since returning to the company at the beginning of 2026. Cardona has noted publicly since his return that his ambition is to become WWE Champion, but Cardona has so far registered a 1-8 record in singles matches on SmackDown, with his only win being his return contest when he defeated Kit Wilson.

Matt Cardona's wife, Chelsea Green, is also dealing with her own injury, having suffered a broken orbital bone after Lainey Reid landed on her face while hitting the Fatal Flaw on the post-SummerSlam episode of SmackDown. Green has remained on TV, though, in non-wrestling segments.
