Update On Chris Jericho's Status With NJPW

The Alpha's contract reportedly ended after Wrestle Kingdom 13...

Chris Jericho lost his IWGP Intercontinental Championship at Wrestle Kingdom 13 last Friday to Tetsuya Naito. After the match, The Alpha was adamant that his time in the far east was far from over, even saying that he wanted to face new IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Hiroshi Tanahashi.

However, Jericho's contract reportedly expired after his match with Naito, and now he's said to be on the brink of turning out for All Elite Wrestling (rumours about a Jericho AEW appearance only intensified after he thanked AEW President/Jacksonville Jaguars owner Tony Khan for tickets to an NFL game).

Dave Meltzer spoke about Jericho's situation on a recent episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, where he confirmed that Y2J's contract did indeed expire on Friday, although NJPW want to keep working with him. Dave also said that Chris wants to stay in New Japan, and that those in charge are seriously looking at the Tanahashi match taking place at some point this year.

All Jericho needs to do is come to terms on a new deal.

So to summarise, it's either AEW or NJPW - or NJPW and AEW, it seems...
