Update On If Adam Cole's Broken Ankle Is A Work

Adam Cole’s broken ankle - is it a shoot or a work?

The nature of professional wrestling can be broken down simply; is it a shoot, or is it a work? That question underpins everything that happens in and out of the ring, and has been asked this past week regarding Adam Cole’s ankle injury.

Cole broke his ankle after what seemed like an innocuous jump from the entrance ramp at Dynamite Grand Slam III on September 20, with some questioning if it was part of the storyline as MJF now has to wrestle a Handicap Match at WrestleDream, whilst a mysterious group led by ‘The Devil’ bum-rushed Jay White on the September 27 Dynamite.

A report from Fightful Select has potentially shed some more light on Cole’s condition, and it looks as though he is legitimately hurt. AEW sources confirmed that Cole is indeed set to undergo surgery on his ankle, and required assistance when travelling to and from this week’s Dynamite.

Whether Cole is used on live TV while out injured remains to be seen, as any kind of leg injury will require a period of rest in order to speed up the healing process. Fightful Select noted fans shouldn't expect Cole to appear on upcoming editions of Dynamite and Collision in a live capacity.
