Santos Escobar is still a part of WWE despite claims that the former NXT Cruiserweight Champion has "quietly moved to the alumni section of WWE's website." WWE simply never moved Escobar back to the active roster on WWE.com following his brief exit from the company in October 2025.

Santos Escobar departed WWE in 2025 after his contract expired. Just hours later, though, the two sides came to terms on a new deal after WWE considered Escobar's concerns about his creative and made him a "very big money" offer.

Despite the money, Escobar has yet to resurface on WWE TV and he has instead been wholly utilised in Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide since the former El Hijo del Fantasma made his return on the January 17 episode of AAA on FOX Latin America. Fightful Select has reported that Escobar in recent weeks wished he was used better and would be utilised.

BodySlam has reported the expectation is Santos Escobar will continue his programme with El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr over the AAA Latin American Championship. Escobar was in action at Saturday night's AAA Rey de Reyes event where he was involved in the Rey de Reyes Final four-way, but it was ultimately El Grande Americano who won the tournament.

Outside of his very brief departure, Santos Escobar has been signed with WWE since August 2019.
