Last week, WWE ushered in a new era behind the scenes when they

hired Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff as Executive Directors

of Raw and SmackDown Live respectively.

The winds of change that swept through the backstage area made its way in front of the cameras as well, as a number of segments on both of this week's main roster shows hinted that a product with an added edge could be coming our way.

On Raw, Corey Graves swore very early into the night, while there was a pregnancy angle involving Maria Kanellis -

congratulations to Maria and Mike, by the way

.

While on SmackDown Live, Kofi Kingston flipped the bird in the direction of Samoa Joe, his challenger for the WWE Championship at Extreme Rules on July 14.

Dave Meltzer recently spoke on

Wrestling Observer Radio

and mentioned that WWE will be using more of this material going forward. This is said to be part of the company's plan to get back the teenage demographic. Another part of that plan is to push

Ricochet, a Superstar identified as a man who appeals to the same viewers who could leave WWE behind for All Elite Wrestling

.

Meltzer followed up his claims on

WOR

up by answering "yes" to a Twitter user who asked if Kofi swearing on SmackDown means there's going to be "a lot more cursing and edginess" happening now.
