Vince McMahon To Have No Say On Final Cut Of Netflix Documentary

No final say for Vince McMahon when it comes to the upcoming Netflix documentary

Could the upcoming Netflix documentary cover the darker aspects of Vince McMahon's tenure at the top of WWE?

A docuseries covering Vince McMahon has been in the works since October 2020 and is said to be one of the most expensive in Netflix history. The project has been put together with WWE and Vince McMahon's collaboration but The Ringer's Bill Simmons, an executive producer on the documentary, has revealed that Vince McMahon won't have any say on the final cut of the documentary.

Simmons stated at the Bloomberg Screentime event that McMahon will only be able to look at clips from the project and he will be unable to supply notes to those making the documentary.

"This Vince McMahon documentary that we have been working on for three years, I think it has a chance to be really great. I really think it has the chance to be the best one I've been involved with. I'll be interested to see what people think about that one. It was a lot of time and it was one where Netflix still has final cut of it. It was a little more old-school in the 30 for 30 model. I think it has a chance to be really special," Simmons said.

It was hinted the project may be just a one-off documentary. Original plans called for the documentary to be a four-part docuseries.

The McMahon documentary was previously shelved in July 2022 following McMahon's resignation as WWE CEO and Chairman amidst a sexual misconduct and hush money scandal. The project was later revived with director and executive producer Chris Smith still attached.
