Vince Russo Says Shane McMahon Asked For His Thoughts On WWE Raw Underground

The Boy Wonder was "gung ho" on the fight club concept...

From early August until late September, Monday Night Raw often featured matches and segments from Raw Underground, a shoot-style fight club hosted by Shane McMahon. The likes of Riddick Moss, Dabba-Kato, Erik and Marina Shafir featured prominently in the segments, but the fight club was cancelled because WWE wanted to keep NXT and main roster Superstars apart as much as possible following a COVID-19 outbreak within the company.

A name from WWE's past may have had a hand in shaping Raw Underground. During a recent edition of Sportskeeda's Legion of Raw, Vince Russo said Shane McMahon asked for his thoughts on the fight club and noted The Boy Wonder was "gung ho" on the concept.

Russo said: "Bro, Shane goes on TV spaldings to the wall. Gives it his all, I mean, like a lunatic. But I've got to be honest with you, I was kind of emailing with Shane when this first started and he was asking me what I thought about it. And bro, he was gung ho on this idea."
