Wade Barrett Would Return To The Ring In WWE To Face Drew McIntyre

An in-ring return could happen down the line...

Back in late August, Wade Barrett returned to WWE as the colour commentator on NXT. The former Intercontinental Champion's return was initially advertised as a one-night deal, but the two parties quickly began negotiations over a full-time return and Barrett has since signed a one-year contract with the company.

Since his return, many have wondered if the former Nexus Leader will have one more run as a Superstar before he hangs up his boots. Barrett admitted during an interview with Digital Spy he would be tempted to step back inside the ring if a match with Drew McIntyre was on the table.

The former bearer of bad news said: "In truth if I was to come back as a full-time in-ring guy, I really would be chasing the sunset of my career. I don't think there's that many more years left in me.

"So the question is, what would I want to achieve? The only thing I didn't achieve in WWE that I always wanted to achieve was to become the WWE Champion, and that title is now held by an old friend of mine, Drew McIntyre.

"So taking him on for that title is something that certainly might tempt me back for a match or two."
