During the latest round of TV tapings for ROH TV, the ROH TV Title changed hands, when Dalton Castle defeated Dragon Lee to lift the title for the first time.

However, the timing of the title switch seems a little odd considering that ROH’s last show of the year - possibly of all time - Final Battle is set to take place on December 11.

As to why the switch happened so soon, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter’s Dave Meltzer suggested the following:

“They [ROH] got the belt off Lee with the idea that he may not be available to the promotion after Final Battle. The thing is, it’s a risk for anyone, because while there is a higher percentage someone will sign Lee than Castle and so it was the right decision at this time with the flooded free agent market, it wouldn’t stun me if somebody signed Castle either.”

Dragon Lee, his brother RUSH, and father Bestia del Ring are all currently part of ROH, but with cousin Andrade El Idolo in AEW, never mind a bevy of opportunities available to them in their native Mexico, Meltzer’s speculation certainly makes a lot of sense, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see the trio leave ROH before its Q1 2022 hiatus.
