WWE writer Brian 'Road Dogg' James contemplates something during an episode of WWE Unreal

News emerged this week that WWE writer ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James was parting ways with WWE, with it being reported that he quit the company in a move that was his decision. James was working as co-lead writer on Friday Night SmackDown alongside John Swikata before his official departure. It was known at the time that James was reportedly unhappy within WWE. More has now been learned about his recent exit.

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter Dave Meltzer has reported that James’ departure came following his annual company review, and the belief is that he wasn’t happy with it. It was noted however that this had been something that had been ‘brewing’. There was also an instance in which WWE approved a convention he was attending before rescinding it, causing him to cancel, which might have further influenced his feeling of distaste in working in the company.

It has also been said by Fightful Select that his unhappiness in WWE had been ongoing for a while, though it isn’t clear how long he was in this mindset before eventually tendering resignation.
