Will Ospreay Expected To Sign With AEW When His NJPW Deal Expires

Will Ospreay expected to join AEW after expiration of NJPW deal

After a banner year, Will Ospreay has found himself one of the most valuable commodities in all of professional wrestling, with the former IWGP World Heavyweight Champion looking set to depart New Japan Pro-Wrestling when his deal expires in early 2024.

Speculation is rising as to where Ospreay will go should he leave NJPW, with All Elite Wrestling, WWE, and TNA/IMPACT all reportedly vying for his services. According to a report from Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, all roads seemingly lead to AEW, with 'lots of people' expecting Ospreay to sign with Tony Khan’s outfit in 2024.

Whilst Meltzer doesn’t rule out a move to WWE for the ‘Aerial Assassin’, the lighter road schedule means that Ospreay could potentially still work for the company full-time without moving his family out of the UK - something Ospreay would prefer to do rather than a full US relocation. Ospreay has also recently hired infamous pro-wrestling agent Barry Bloom, who also counts AEW stars Chris Jericho, Kenny Omega, and The Young Bucks amongst his clients - the latter three of which he recently helped secure massive money deals from AEW.

Ospreay has been heavily featured in AEW in 2023 despite still being a full-time member of the NJPW roster, with Ospreay’s win over Chris Jericho at All In in Wembley Stadium one of the marquee matches of the event. Ospreay is also currently part of Don Callis’ heel Family in the promotion.
