WWE 24/7 Title Changes Hands On Raw

Gronk's long reign comes to an end...

Bruno Sammartino. Bob Backlund. Hulk Hogan. Rob Gronkowski. All of these men have held precious championships for interminable lengths of times, resulting in utter shock and bewilderment the very moment the gold slipped from their sturdy grasp.

For Gronkowski, his record-setting 67 or 68-day reign as WWE 24/7 champion has, at long last, come to a bitter end.

The longest-reigning 24/7 champion in WWE history was felled by multi-time titleholder R-Truth on Monday. The title switch occurred on Gronkowski's property, which Truth and a referee managed to invade. Truth was covertly posing as a gardener, and rolled up an unsuspecting Gronk to capture the gold once more.

This marks Truth's 36th reign as 24/7 champion, as he looks to tack on to his 155 cumulative days holding the title.

Gronkowski's reign, as noted, ends at 67 or 68 days, depending on which part of the WrestleMania 36 taping it was filmed at. His reign with the belt is by far the longest, with Riddick Moss' 41 day reign in February and March trailing in second place.

With Gronkowski unretired in the NFL, having signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers this offseason, it remains to be seen whether or not he'll vie for WWE gold once more down the line.
