The AEW Rampage and WWE Friday Night SmackDown ratings comparison was reportedly a hot topic of conversation among talent in attendance for this week's WWE Monday Night Raw.

The Friday 15 October ratings - after WWE and AEW went head-to-head - have been the biggest story in wrestling over the past few days, with the biggest news undoubtedly being the strong numbers earned by Rampage against WWE SmackDown.

While SmackDown achieved the highest overall rating, the number was boosted by a strong outing in the over-50s demo. However, the crucial 18-49 demographic were primarily watching AEW Rampage, with Tony Khan's company achieving a higher number in the key category during the 30 minutes that the two programs overlapped.

According to WrestleVotes, the outcome has been a major 'hot topic' of discussion backstage in WWE, particularly at the Monday Night Raw taping on Monday 18 October.

WWE haven't lost to another wrestling promotion in any form of ratings battle since WCW in 1998, with the news of AEW Rampage's success against SmackDown a huge mark of the newer promotion's incredible growth, particularly when considering that the WWE Friday night show had a more favourable timeslot.
