After some not-so-subtle online campaigning, John Cena has gotten his wish with WWE announcing that Cena will face AJ Styles at Crown Jewel Perth on October 11.

Cena is coming to the end of his retirement tour, with Crown Jewel set to be his last ever match on Australian soil. Following the relatively disappointing squash at the hands of Brock Lesnar at Wrestlepalooza, Cena took to social media to lobby for one last match against Styles, with WWE CCO Triple H later sanctioning the match.

Taking to Twitter/X, Triple H posted the following:

“.@JohnCena vs. @AJStylesOrg is a match we all want to see. And at #WWECrownJewel…we will. Saturday, October 11 on @espn & @netflix.”

Cena has no scheduled WWE TV dates leading up to Crown Jewel, with Cena having but a handful of contracted dates left before his WWE retirement in December.

Arguably Styles is one of Cena’s greatest ever opponents despite the pair having wrestled just four singles matches against one another. The pair’s trilogy at Money in the Bank 2016, SummerSlam 2016, and Royal Rumble 2017 are regarded by many as some of the finest matches in Cena’s career.

Upon the match being confirmed, Cena posted the following:

“I want to thank @TripleH for being flexible here and rewarding the true driving force behind #CenavsStyles .. the FANS! 2 posts over 10m views and so many of you let yourself be heard! #WWECrownJewel Perth and @AJStylesOrg you will get my everything. Listening to our audience is ALWAYS what’s BEST for business! I am forever grateful to you all for choosing my next opponent. LFG!!”
