WWE Announces World Heavyweight Championship Tournament

Triple H has announced a tournament to crown the WWE World Heavyweight Champion

Following the announcement of the brand new WWE World Heavyweight Championship being brought into existence, and that a new champion would be crowned at the 2023 Night Of Champions event in Saudi Arabia, WWE have now revealed their plans as to how they’re getting there.

At the 2023 Backlash press conference in Puerto Rico, Triple H detailed the plans for the following week regarding the World Heavyweight Championship. A tournament was laid out, with the two triple threat matches taking place on Raw, with the winners of said matches meeting later on in the night. The same will happen on SmackDown too, with the two wrestlers left standing at the end of each night going on to Night of Champions to fight for the gold.

It was announced prior to the draft that the new title would be Raw-exclusive, so one would presume that if a SmackDown wrestler wins it, then they will move over to the red brand. So far, WWE haven’t announced any competitors on either side of the bracket.
